Workshop Report: Second EDDD Project Workshop Held in Rijeka

The second workshop of the research project “Epistemic Democracy in the Digital Era” (IP2024-05-4113), funded by the Croatian Science Foundation, was successfully held on 13 November 2025 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka. The event took place in room F-412 in a hybrid format, bringing together in-person participants and online attendees.
Entitled “Team Review and Forward Planning,” the second workshop focused on assessing the progress achieved so far and outlining the project team’s upcoming activities. The program opened with welcome remarks, followed by a series of individual progress presentations delivered by project members, including Elvio Baccarini, Mateja Centa Strahovnik, Ivan Cerovac, Tomislav Furlanis, Kristina Lekić Barunčić, Finn Mairel, Benedikt Perak, Snježana Prijić-Samaržija, and Vojko Strahovnik.
During workshop, Finn Mairel (Free University Berlin) held a talk titled “The Impact of Digitalization on Intra-Party Democracy”. The session stimulated discussion on the implications of digital tools for internal democratic processes within political parties.
The latter part of the workshop was dedicated to annual report preparation, planning forthcoming research outputs, and a session on strategic planning and open discussion. Participants reflected on opportunities for deeper collaboration, integration across subprojects, and dissemination of research findings, ensuring alignment with the project’s expected outcomes for 2025.
The workshop served as an important milestone in consolidating the team’s work to date and setting the direction for the next phase of the project.
